Nomadic Anatomy
This application puts the Visible Human Project (and similar volume data sets) in your hand via a wireless handheld computer. The interface is pen-based with a small collection of on-screen controls and allows the user to arbitrarily position a slice plane relative to the volume. The application utilizes the Information Channels framework and supports collaboration between clients.
The application utilizes a client/server design where the client reports a position and orientation within the data volume and the server constructs and transports a slice image corresponding to the client's position. In addition to the main server the client can also discover, through Information Channels, and utilizes a voxel identification server. This allows the user to point at a voxel and see an identifying name for the structure at that voxel.
