End to End Performance Assessment

As a result of the evaluation of previous research work done in networking and in consideration of the current challenges being faced with the networked applications, we identified a new subject for research for this grant.

The research subject involves the study of the interdependency between the different metrics of network performance with special emphasis on the dependency between network delay and packet loss and their impact on the "quality of service" First we will design a sequence of tests to be carried over the Information Channels applications. A primary goal for this testing is to investigate and evaluate the impact on the application's "quality of service" under network conditions that involve the variation of several network metrics such as, delay and packet loss, simultaneously. Previous research work involved evaluation of the "quality of service" under network conditions where each network metric was modified individually while keeping the other network metrics constant.
