Background      »Web Site

Dr. Harris is currently a Professor of Engineering Education at Purdue. Prior to his recent move, he was the Director of Experimental E-learning programs at Stanford's School of Engineering. He has a PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and has focused on the telecommunications field both in strategic technology development for Pacific Bell and as a faculty member leading Stanford's Center for Telecommunications Research.

Research Interests

Dr. Harris and his students have developed key metrics for the assessment of the user's perception of performance of a networked application. They have studied several of the applications developed in Phase II of our NLM NGI contract, and have shown how to characterize these applications in terms of their network requirements.

Project Role

Dr. Harris is the network evaluation lead. His focus is on the technical evaluation of the applications, the end-to-end performance, and the value to the development of the technology.
